"Mange" to score 50?

You might want to get treatment for that before it becomes serious...

By the way, isn't it interesting that players, ex-players, coaches and LeBron himself think that Kobe is the best player in the NBA, that even the mainstream media seems to be catching on this year that Kobe is the MVP but the main pocket of resistance right now appears to be certain segments of the "blogosphere"?

I also found it interesting that one blogger claims to tape 3 to 13 games a day and that he watches all of them. Even if he fast forwards through commercials, halftime and "miked up" segments, on a 13 game day that works out to about 26 hours of basketball in a 24 hour period. Pardon me if I don't believe that someone watches 26 hours of basketball in a 24 hour period.

David, good Christ, I never claimed to tape 3-to-13 games a day. That would involve somewhere between (and this is a wild guess) three and 13 TVs.

What I did say is that I watch as much of every game that I can during the days I have to write BtB for, and tape a bunch during Friday and Saturday nights.

There are, on average, about ten games on a Wednesday, and little less on a Tuesday. Thursday is a three-game night, and Monday usually sees around five. Sunday has about seven, but the games are spread out from noon to 10:30 EST.

What I do is use my first Tivo input to flip around games, with a DVD running and burning as I flip around. On the other tuner, I'll Tivo two other games; and record the late-night re-airs (on ESPN or NBA TV) overnight.

I burn the full games from the second tuner (or the re-airs) the next day. Sometimes I'll re-watch the games, sometimes I won't. Either way, I have a way to go back and look at things, to question my initial thoughts, and to learn, learn, learn.

I never said I taped 3 to 13 games a day. I did say that I try -- for my readers -- to watch as much as I can, and that the usual NBA sked provides 3 to 13 games a night.

The biggest nights of the year are the NBA's second night, the last Wednesday before the AS break, and the last day of the regular season. Those usually see 14 games. Last Wednesday saw 12.

And I never said I watch each game all the way through. I have a DVD running from 7 pm to around ten 'til 1 am, and I stay up to watch as much as I can during that time, flipping and flipping and flipping and trying to catch the most important parts.

I would prefer next time that you wouldn't offer such snark, and actually use my name. We can mature about any questions you have without resigning ourselves to snarky little blog comments: you know how to get a hold of me, and if you had any questions, you should have emailed or PM'd me at the APBR board.

It's a little disappointing that you decided to air your grievances (let's face it, most readers of this site know exactly who you're talking about) here.

Kelly:

This is what you wrote (not on a discussion board or in personal correspondence but in an article that was meant for public consumption and discussion):

"Every time you see a name columnist you see sitting on press row watching a single game that evening, understand that I'm at home going through each of that night's three-to-13 games; Tivo'ing several, burning them to DVD the next day, and working my ass off to be a step ahead of everyone else."

This was my comment:

"I also found it interesting that one blogger claims to tape 3 to 13 games a day and that he watches all of them. Even if he fast forwards through commercials, halftime and "miked up" segments, on a 13 game day that works out to about 26 hours of basketball in a 24 hour period. Pardon me if I don't believe that someone watches 26 hours of basketball in a 24 hour period."

You said that you go through "each" of that night's games, up to 13; my comment referred to someone claiming to watch "all" 13 games. I fail to see how I misrepresented what you wrote. If you meant to say something else then you should have stated it more clearly. For instance, I'm not sure what "We can mature about any questions" means but it doesn't really matter because I don't have a question in this instance; I read what you wrote and found it more than a little hard to believe.

Also, the essence of that segment of your article is your assertion that you know more about basketball than every beat writer in the country and--presumably--everyone else who writes about the NBA. So, I guess when it comes to "snarky" comments I should defer to your judgment.
